Is Pujols still the top MVP candidate? ?

Q: I don't know.....as a Phillies fan, Ryan Howard is absolutely ridiculous right now. If he keeps up the pace he's been on lately, he could break the 50 home run mark. I would vote for him, but in the minds of the MVP voters the strikeouts and batting average from earlier in the season are going to ruin his fantastic finish. What do you think? @koreaguy Just curious who your MVP pick would be. Has Pujols been good enough all season? I don't know why, I mean, Pujols has good stats and all but i just can't get behind him for MVP.

A: Yes, he's still the top MVP candidate, but I don't expect he'll win the MVP. He'll finish in the top 5 in MVP voting, but MVP himself will be someone who's made a big impact on a contending team. For example, Ryan Howard, Hanley Ramirez or David Wright. If St. Louis was in the hunt I'm sure Pujols would get a lot more consideration for MVP.
