Basketball Problem Help???????

Q: when i play basketball i kinda lose energy so fast! how can i improve it? and also when i walk or run my calves hurt! help me ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ i will give ***** (five stars) to the people who answer very good and helpful! all of you i think with thumbs up are going to have ***** but i only have to pick one...well thanks for that i would work out tomorrow and please keep answering!

A: I'm in the same boat you are... I just recently started playing basketball again. It's been 10 years since I last played any organizational type basketball. Some friends play full court at a local gym and I joined them. I work in a job where I'm on my feet walking all day, and I thought I would have no problem. But I was on the court for about 10 minutes and it felt like I had severe asthma! I couldn't catch my breath, I had no vertical, and my legs felt like jello! Someone once told me the best thing you can do after playing ball is drink about 4 cups of water. I did, and I had no real trouble with my calves like I usually do. A buddy suggested that I do a simple "Couch to 5k" program. The program starts you off doing some simple walking/running intervals and then leads up to fully running. He said it builds your cardio and your lung capacity. For example it starts you off walking for one minute then jogging for one minute for 20 minutes. Then the time and intervals slowly increase over a period of time. It was designed for everyday people to start running. Hope that helps!
