Q: B-Hop in an interview with Setanta sports just said that he will break Kelly down like he did Trinidad and just as Tito couldnt use his Left Hook against him Kelly wont be able to get that big right hand off. Does anyone believe that the 43 year old Hopkins can pull off the upset ?
A: First of all i will start off by saying i don't like writing anyone off but i think Bernards age will show against a man in his prime. However, like him or not, Bernard is a ring general and can make almost any fighter look stupid when he has his moments (which are becoming few and far between these days). He dropped Calzaghe fair and square and i think he will prepare for this fight with Pavliks huge right hand at the top of his agenda. B-Hops biggest asset is his natural ability to frustrate his opponents and make them make mistakes. However i think he is barking up the wrong tree so to speak if he thinks frustrating Pavlik will work, as Kelly is a very cool headed character. In my opinion the pace of the fight will be set by Pavlik with Bernard on the back foot counter-punching. I don't see Kelly landing with many right hands but he will certainly outwork the aging Hopkins elsewhere. Kelly WILL get caught coming in to B-Hop but the volume or power of punches shouldn't trouble him too much. Pavlik wins by unanimous decision, winning 10-11 rounds on all judges scorecards. So yes- i think to a certain extent Bernard will avoid Pavlik's right hand but this aspect of the fight is too mimimal to ensure a B-Hop victory.
