Q: Ive just watched an interview on Setanta and Roy dont seem to be as brash or as cocky as he used to be in interviews, he gave a very good account of himself and grew in stature in my eyes (if he possibly could, one of the greatest of alltime anyway) i really see this fight as a superfight and it dont need the BS that Floyd or Hopkins usually come with, the fight will sell itself. Hopkins though still makes himself look like a baby when he tries to put down Roys and Joes achievements in an interview to promote his fight with Pavlik, i can see he wants to sell his own fight but why cant he just show some respect to his fellow Pros, he kept calling them slappers and that it would be a slapping contest. As i remember B-Hop has been the one involved in boring defensive fights for quite a while but you didnt hear Roy and Joe bother to put him down.
A: Roy Jones has mellowed with age, and I think his time working with HBO announcers and watching fights from another perspective changed his view.. (much like Muhammad Ali did when he wasn't fighting). Jones is excellent in front of the camera now and shows more respect.. Unfortunately, I doubt there will ever be a Jones / Bhop rematch, as far as I can remember, there have been 3 failed attempts by them both, even though Jones has mellowed his personality, he's still the promoter of himself much like Hopkins is. Besides, sometimes Hopkins antics do work, they sure worked against Trinidad. And we can't forget, those antics also worked against Jones (remember Tarver / Jones 2).. If you have the PPV of that fight, after the fight is over, theres a scene in Jones' dressing room where he's talking to one of his trainers, and he specifically mentions how Tarver's comment (You got any excuses tonight Roy?) during the referee's asking if the fighters have any questions bugged him.. Tarver beat him mentally before that fight.
