Q: I have a heavy bag (over 150lbs) and use it everyday. What is the best protection for my hands that will still effectively strengthen my knuckles? p.s I Saw this thing on "Human Weapon" and on "Fight Science" Where fighters strengthen their hands by punching hard objects e.g poles, sand cauldrons or banana trees, The bone particles break down and grow back stronger than before, Is this true and if so, will it work with a heavy bag and protection e.g The answer to my First question?
A: The heavy bag is a lot different than a sand cauldron. When hitting the heavybag, you probably want some sort of protection. Not for your knuckles but for your wrists. If you're a hard hitter, the chances of your wrists hyperextending are good versus a heavybag of that size. Who fights bareknuckles anyway? This isn't 1890. It really depends on what you're trying to do. There are MMA gloves that would work. I would suggest large, 16oz practise gloves. They're great hand protection and the weight is an additional workout. You might also try Everlast's Gel Wraps. They're a thin glove, very quick and easy.
