What happens if the batsman plays a shot that hits the stumps on the non-striking end of the wicket?

Q: Is anyone out? Does it matter where the non-striker is standing when the stumps are hit?

A: If the batsmen hit the ball into the stumps at the other end without it touching any of the fielders then its NOT-OUT. If the batsmen hits the ball and the bowler gets a tiny deflection and then it hits the stumps then its OUT. So if it doesnt touch anyone on the way through then its NOT-OUT If the bowler gets a touch on the ball, and then it hits the stumps (of course the non-striker has to be out of his crease) then its OUT
