Q: Obiviously he isnt crap, but why is he making no runs of late in both county matches and test matches. And lets face it, he hasnt had the hardest of oppositions barring South Africa. He did poorly against New zealand aswell, he did really badly againts south africa aswell and now crap in the county matches. Is his technique too lose, and not compact enough? and would he get his place back in the test side for the indian series?
A: It should be a slump in form. But it is quite long than we think. He scored only 2068 runs in his last 35 games at an average of 34.46 compared to his first 47 games, in which he scored 3651 runs at 46.80. But he has an amazing record against India, he averages 72.57 against India. He has made more than 1000 only against India with 4 centuries & 3 half-centuries. But most of his exploits against India has come at home. Both his 197 (at Notthingham) & 195 (at The Oval) was against India. He played only 2 tests in India. So he should be given a chance against India. You will never know, tour to India has proved to be resurrection of careers for many players; ask Matthew Hayden about that.
