Bike sizes: 13 years old?

Q: hey, hardtail mtb sizes: small medium or large? I'm about 4'9 90 lbs and was wondering whats the best size for me? x-small, small, medium, large?

A: Right now you'll fit best into an x-small. Another few inches and you'll fit a small size frame better. If you like bikes alot and think you'll be riding in the future, then I'd really suggest you get the x-small. Then, in a couple years or so when you've grown taller, that bike will probably be ready to be replaced and you can move up. It's usually not a good idea to get a larger frame and "grow into" it....but you can do that, too, if you want. You won't be quite as comfortable and the bike won't handle as well, but it's not like it would be totally unrideable or anything. Just make sure that, as said above, you have a few inches of clearance when you straddle the frame. This is important on a mountain bike for safety since you'll be on uneven terrain. It's important on road bikes, too, but moreso on mountain bikes. Crotch clearance is good! :o)
