Q: Is it worth the money to go to Running Room? I've bought expensive running shoes and sports bra. Anything else I should do? What about a good book or website for tips on doing it right. I don't even know if I should stay off the sidewalks to avoid shin splints or whatever. My quads are killing me this morning!
A: Make sure you don't go out too fast -- you should be almost able to keep up a conversation. If you can't, you're pushing yourself too hard for a beginner. Make sure you stay well hydrated and stretch before and after each run to help avoid injury and recover faster.
