How to improve my 500 freestyle time?

Q: I swam it for the first time in a meet and got 7:41 and im 14. i need soem tips for improving my time=] thanks=]] be nice please.=]

A: The 500 has a different strategy unlike the other races that one might compete in. Here is some random tips: -Reached out with your arms as far as you can to make yourself efficient. -Breath every three or every two - you need oxygen for this swim, dont breath be breathing every four or five. -When you're doing flipturns, dont come up and instantly breath, go three strokes before breathing after flipping - i know it hurts but that is what practice is for...to make it hurt less. In terms of race strategy you want to get a good start, go fairly fast in the first 100 yards to gain any lead you can over your opponents and after that you can slow down and go at a good pace. And of course once you've got your last 100 or 50, you should go all out. After these, the only thing left is to practice and get better at swimming freestyle good luck
