Q: Hi, I have been looking around the net for a good volleyball drill on movement/ready position for my team. Can someone give me a specific drill and not a website, I have found many websites, none with anything on movement.
A: I have a couple... - 1. Just a basic movement drill. The players stand facing you in rows. You point to a direction (left, right, forward, back) and they have to shuffle in the direction that you're pointing. - 2. There's a drill called touch 10 that is really good. I haven't tried it on my team yet, but I did this drill in JV volleyball...and almost puked :) The coach stands at the middle of the net. 1 player starts in the back center court. The coach rolls the ball in different directions, and speeds in the court. The player in the court has to run and touch every ball that the coach rolls. If they miss one, they have to get an extra one before they're finished. Players start getting tired at about 7-8, so they have to really push it for the last 2-3 balls. - 3. This drill is a passing drill, but I found it really good for movement. Two coaches stand at either side of the net, with 1 ball each. One group of players lines up at the end line on the right side of the court. Coach 1 (directly across from the players) throws a ball. Player passes it to coach 1, run to the coach 1 and touches their foot. Then they shuffle diagonally to the back left of the court. Halfway there, Coach 2 tosses it to the back left corner. Player passes it to coach 2. Then the player runs around the net/court to get back in line. If you need any other ideas, just message me. I spent a very long time trying to find new drills on the internet for my team this year. If I use any other drills tomorrow, I'll tell you how they turned out.
