Q: I am really short but i LOVE volleyball! I think you all see a problem there. I am 12 years old and 4 feet 9 inches!!! I am only supposed to grow to about 5'7 at the most. Does anyone know of any health diets like certain foods to eat and not to eat? Or anything like that.
A: Eat the 4 food groups! Get 8 plus hours of sleep. Dont party too much until you turn 18 or 19. DONT smoke, drink too much caffeine or alcohol. That will get the most out of your height. Most things have already been decided for you... but you have ONE thing in your control... Your heart! Why are their players in the NBA (Allen Iverson, Spud Web) that can succeed so WELL that are not the "optimum" height? Volleyball + Sport + Practice + Heart = WINNER! Dont ever under estimate it! At your age, you will still be able to play all positions. PRACTICE THEM. PERFECT THEM ALL! You may never be hitting the ball straight down to the 10' line, but YOU should be the ONLY one on the team that can hit a trash can lid any where in the 900 square fee EVERY time. You should have a line shot that takes out the setter. You should have a cut shot that a triple block is lost at how to block. You should be able to watch the block so much that you see the hole. Also, if you get a chance, play beach ball! I know pleanty of 5'4 to 5'8" women that play beach in Open division because they have so many skills! Doubles is where most people like to play anyways! Its my most favorite! Remember Control! If you have control, you can be ANY height you want and I woudl take you over the 6'2" middle who cannot pass for her life, sets with brick hands, and can ONLY hit the ball when its OVER the block on a perfect set!
